“Jamie is amazing. I find her to be warm, caring, thoughtful, and insightful.  She has catered each session to my needs drawing from different modalities and trainings.  Her approach is totally unique from other types of therapies I’ve gone to in the past and her techniques were eye opening.  As a guide and a support she has really made a tremendous difference in my life and I am so grateful for her. I would highly recommend her. ”

Getting to know Jamie Adges

I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Registered Drama Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher, and EMDR practitioner, with a wide range of experience including early childhood, adolescents, autism spectrum disorder and disabilities, addiction and substance use, adult mental health, and geriatrics. I have worked with groups and individuals in settings such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, substance abuse treatment centers, and outpatient clinics. Background I received my Master’s in Drama Therapy from Roehampton University in London in 2016 and am currently based in New York City. I am a HCPC Registered Arts Therapist and Drama Therapist in the United Kingdom, and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York State. My background is in both theatre and psychology, and through my own personal journey, as well as witnessing the experiences of others, I have come to appreciate the healing effects of creative expression when addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, psychosis, and the general demands of everyday life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a comfortable and contained space where we will be using creative arts therapy tools and traditional psychotherapy to connect with both body and mind, and work through issues and challenges we may be facing in our lives to move towards a place of self acceptance and healing. I believe in a client-led, humanistic approach and my role is to be a guide and support on each person’s unique journey, catering sessions to meet the individual needs and goals of every person. People of all backgrounds and experiences are welcome and can benefit from this approach.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions are typically 45-60 minutes long and occur weekly. We will co-collaborate to create a treatment plan and set intentions for therapy that best align with your personal goals, background and history, and current circumstances. Sessions may include a combination of talk psychotherapy, creative arts therapy, and somatic and trauma informed approaches that best support and deepen your process.

Jamie is an amazing therapist :) I have been seeing her consistently for the past year and our sessions are one of the major grounding points of my week. I feel that she has come to deeply understand things I am going through and she has helped me to feel empowered. Jamie is unique because she creates space for creative practices during our sessions- drawing/role playing/ guided visualizations/image identification are all things that we do that have helped me to understand my experiences from different angles. I highly recommend Jamie as a therapist; she is warm, open, and insightful.
