“Jennifer is the most incredible therapist. I came to her confused about why I was feeling so anxious any time I tried to date someone seriously. I have a great life- financially stable, great job, a supportive group of best friends. But every time I would remotely try to get serious with someone, I started doubting the relationship. I feel like I would lose myself too, and I hated that. Jen helped me explore why this was happening and find myself again. She had me using techniques right away, and I needed that!”

Getting to know Jennifer Durso

I work with adults navigating disability in all its forms- both visible and invisible. There is something deeply powerful about being supported by a therapist who genuinely understands the layered realities of living in a body or mind that requires adaptation and is often misunderstood. For full transparency, I have been managing Crohn’s disease for over 13 years and proudly identify as both a disabled and neurodivergent professional. These identities have brought complex grief and trauma, but also profound strength, resilience, and bravery. They shape my therapeutic approach into one that is identity-affirming, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and deeply authentic. Learning about my clients’ lived experiences and witnessing them with unconditional support, advocacy, and compassion is central to my work. I also proudly identify as queer and have had the honor of supporting many adults within the LGBTQIA+ community, including those navigating transition, gender exploration and dysphoria, coming out, ethical non-monogamy, kink, community-building, gender-affirming surgery, couples therapy, and relocation from more conservative environments. I have extensive experience supporting adults navigating OCD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism (including late-identified or questioning), trauma (including complex trauma), grief, chronic illness, identity exploration, disordered eating, life transitions, relationship and intimacy concerns, low self-esteem, family conflict, work or school stress, sleep challenges, and cultural stressors such as minority stress, acculturation, oppression, intergenerational trauma, systemic barriers, and mental health stigma. Above all, I strive to create a steady, affirming space where you do not have to mask, minimize, or justify your experience- a space where your grief is honored, your strengths are recognized, and your healing unfolds at a pace that feels sustainable and empowering.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In terms of therapeutic modalities, I tailor treatment for each client to meet their unique needs, preferences, and strengths. I integrate approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), relational therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. My work with neurodivergent adults often includes burnout recovery planning, reducing internalized ableism and shame, unmasking support, sensory regulation and overload prevention, energy budgeting, psychoeducation, cultivating strengths, couples therapy, and advocacy for accommodations. I also find coaching approaches highly effective for many neurodivergent clients, including life coaching, dating and relationship coaching, executive functioning support (such as time management and organization), vocational and career coaching, daily living skills, social skills, accountability support, and academic coaching.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Nothing is more powerful than a therapist who shows up authentically and truly can connect based on shared experiences. I have had the privilege of observing so much healing through building relationships with my clients alone. My space is always warm, non-judgmental, empowering, and collaborative.

Jenny helped me come to terms with my ADHD and autism and I can’t thank her enough!
Jennifer is the most incredible therapist. She had me using techniques right away, and I needed that!
I have a lot of trauma that I experienced, especially growing up. I was really nervous to open up to Jennifer, but her warmth and presence helped me quicker than I ever anticipated! I am beyond grateful for her. She is a master at her craft.
I never realized how important it was to find a therapist who not only helps women, but honors us and recognizes how hard it can be sometimes. The beauty standards and gender expectations we have to face are unfair. The fact that its hard sometimes to have female friendships, especially if you have trouble trusting people. If you are a woman, I highly encourage you to work with Jen. We need more therapists like her in this world, given everything we manage and go through. She is extremely empowering, authentic, and uplifting.
I have dealt with chronic illness for years now. I can’t believe there is a therapist who exists who understands it and deals with it too. It just feels different- it feels so much more meaningful. I highly recommend Jennifer for anyone dealing with chronic illness. She is so worth the investment.
I am late-diagnosed autistic and I identify as bisexual. I have several health issues and CPTSD. I cannot recommend Jennifer enough for the help she has given me. I used to suppress my emotions really badly and beat myself up a lot. I had trouble trusting myself and everyone in my life. I dealt with really bad perfectionism too. My self-esteem was low. Working together over the past few years, I feel like a new person! She gets me. She gets it. It’s so hard to get it.
I had so much anxiety about my health and my future before I met Jen. I identify as a lesbian. I deal with random health issues that trigger my anxiety pretty bad. If you are part of our community, Jennifer is your therapist! She changed my life and helped with my anxiety so much.
Jennifer did couples therapy with my partner and I for several years. We are a gay couple who have been married for 10 years. She is the real deal! She helped us with our communication, managing conflict better, intimacy, and getting rid of resentment we were holding towards each other. She honestly saved our relationship!
I worked with Jennifer for over 2 years. I had really bad anxiety about my relationships. I had so much doubt about myself and my long-term boyfriend’s attraction to me. I didn’t understand why this was happening. I used to get triggered by any little change in him and I was always scared he was going to leave. I felt so bad about what was coming across my mind when I was overthinking, but Jennifer always has a way of making you feel better. We used a combination of strategies (ACT, CBT) and it helped me so much. She even encouraged my partner to come into our sessions, which also helped a lot! I highly recommend her to treat anxiety and overthinking.
I have been struggling with OCD since I was a kid. I really didn’t understand how much it consumed my life until I started working with Jennifer. She taught me how my brain works right away and we started working on it. We have been working together for over 3 years. I am happy to report that my thoughts are so much clearer now and I still can’t believe it. My OCD was making my anxiety and depression worse, and my self-confidence. I feel like my thoughts don’t rule my life anymore! If you need help with OCD (and anxiety and depression!), you need to work with Jennifer- she is phenomenal.
I have been dealing with overthinking and anxiety for most of my life. Now knowing it is OCD has changed my life. Jennifer actually knows how to treat OCD. She is the knowledge and strategy guru. Ever since working with her, I am not triggered by most of what was bothering me and making my intrusive thoughts worse. She is like your biggest cheerleader every session- helping you to get better. I didn’t expect all the positive benefits I got from just working on this alone- like feeling more comfortable advocating for myself and making decisions. My relationships got so much better too. I am so grateful for the work we did. We were together for 2 years, but I started seeing progress right away!
Jennifer is the most authentic therapist you will come across. She goes above and beyond to make sure I feel safe and comfortable every session. She knows when I need some extra validation or some tough love. She remembers every detail about our relationship without even taking any notes! I never thought I could make this much progress in my life. You feel her warmth. It is incredible what she accomplishes while managing her own chronic illness. I have the deepest respect for her.
I thought I could handle my ADHD on my own for most of my life and I felt so much shame about trying to work on it in therapy. Knowing my therapist also deals with ADHD made me feel like I am not alone or broken for the first time in my life. She has also done coaching with my executive functioning (I needed that so bad). If you think you have ADHD or any kind of neurodivergence, please strongly consider her as your therapist!!
I am queer and Jennifer is the first therapist I have been with for years. She supported me through my transition and coming out. She has also helped me navigate polyamory with my partner. She is the real deal.
I worked with Jennifer for 4 years and I couldn’t recommend a better therapist. When I came to her, I had a feeling I was dealing with some kind of neurodivergence, but was not willing to accept it at first. We discovered together that I have ADHD and autism and I am now proud to say that. She is an expert on the subject. She is not afraid to share her own experiences and that helped me open up so much. I didn’t realize how much coaching would help me either. I needed things to be broken down so I wasn’t as overwhelmed. Jennifer changed my life.
