Hi there, I'm Julie!
My name is Julie A. Bush, and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University. I bring extensive experience from my time as an emergency mental health worker in an emergency department. I have also worked as a child and juvenile therapist, as well as a therapist for active-duty military. Between my life experiences and professional background, I believe I can assist you in reaching your goals.
My approach
The approach I take depends on the individual's needs. I believe in starting where the person is at and building from there. Some will want guidance, while others prefer a more direct approach.
My focus
Having worked in an ER for over a decade, I feel comfortable working with all populations. I am a firm believer in not wasting anyone's time, so I strive to create an environment where people feel safe and comfortable discussing whatever they need to.
My communication style
My tone is always supportive, regardless of the situation. I am comfortable being nurturing as well as direct. I will always be honest and empathetic. Being judgmental is never part of my approach.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started life as an adopted child and often felt misunderstood. I wanted to be someone anyone could turn to without judgment. My path to adulthood was a little crooked, and those experiences have given me insights I never would have gained in a classroom. I am honored to be part of someone's recovery and to support them on their own unique path. I don't believe I was born to do anything else.
