About Karen Skolnik

I received my Physical Therapy education at Hunter College, CUNY where I graduated Cum Laude. I have practiced in multidisciplinary outpatient & sports medicine settings for nearly 15 years in and around NYC. I am passionate about the process of helping each of my patients recover as well as prevent future injuries. My treatments are designed to relieve pain as well as educate on how to maintain the gains we make in each session. Each treatment session begins with time for patients to explain their symptoms and concerns. I believe it is extremely important for patients and practitioners to truly understand each other and discuss goals and concerns. From there, I am able to use various manual techniques, exercises, and a touch of humor to keep sessions therapeutic and enjoyable. I am certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, also known as the McKenzie Method for diagnosis and treatment. MDT is beneficial for lumbar, cervical, and thoracic spine pain. The McKenzie Method has some of the strongest research to support its effectiveness when treating both acute and chronic back and neck pain. I have also taken the Power Pilates Mat certification course as well as continuing education courses in Graston Technique, Kinesio Taping, and many different manual therapy courses including Maitland, ART and Mulligan. Most patients arrive to physical therapy because something is going wrong. They are injured or in pain or unable to do something they used to be able to do with ease. Our work at Good Life is to help you find and make more prominent and more possible the good feelings and good times. The connection of our mental and emotional wellbeing to the health and comfort of our bodies is impossible to ignore – especially when you find yourself in pain. At Good Life Physical Therapy we know that the work of caring for our physical selves can and will improve our overall quality of life.

Karen Skolnik is knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She gives undivided attention and checks progress each session. She also gives different methods of exercise that may be more comfortable for me and achieve the same results. The office is clean, neat, and peaceful.
I've been seeing Karen for a while now to help with various issues along my power lifting journey. She has diagnosed and treated multiple injuries and almost injuries and given me a warmup routine that makes my lifting go more smoothly. Highly recommend!
Good Life PT is a great practice. Karen Skolnik PT has helped me immensely. I've recommended Karen to a number of my friends and will continue to do so. She is devoted to her Patients and works hard to find the real cause of your Pain and how best to help you recover enough to do the things you enjoy.

Karen treated me for severe neck and shoulder pain. She did a wonderful job of both relieving me of the pain, and giving me home exercises to maintain my wellbeing. She clearly knows what she's doing! I am grateful for that.
Karen Skolnick - When you feel that you are both looking forward to PT and dreading it... Karen is the perfect antidote. She is both knowledgeable and caring. It is rare to have someone who is interested beyond the session, someone who continually shares articles and information, while bringing her warmth and rehabilitation experience to “painful situations”.
