Getting to know Kate Feiner

Kate is a Psychotherapist and Licensed Master of Social Work. She combines her therapeutic knowledge and holistic approach to tackle whatever you bring to the appointment. Strengths-focused and genuine in her approach, she quickly puts people at ease. Having been a therapist and supervisor at one of New York City’s oldest not-for-profit organizations, Kate has a tremendous working knowledge of evidence-based and evidence-informed therapeutic models, such as Multisystemic Therapy, Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Kate uses these models as well as the Gottman Method and Chapman approach to work with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. In addition to offering guest lectures throughout NY and CT, Kate is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, where she teaches MSW students about evidence-based and evidence-informed models in a course called Evidence-Based Practice with Children and Families. Kate has vast research experience, including stigma in academic settings (women in STEM), how race and stigma impact trust, adolescents dealing with ADHD and/or substance abuse and how this affects families, and the most effective and common techniques used in various models of family therapy. Committed to empowering others and recognizing that each individual seeks something unique out of therapy, Kate is dedicated to adapting her style to fit your needs. I am a transgender non-binary individual. I have been working with my therapist for over 5 years. She has supported me with loving, judgmental, open arms. She understands my special needs and supports me in my journey.
Never a minute late, unlike so many doctors. My time is respected. All of my insurance was explained to me and they submit all the paper work. All I need to do is show up. Thank you for guiding me on my journey.
I am a McKinsey consultant. I chose this practice because of my therapist's background in business. I still work too much, however my work/life balance has shifted significantly. I am on track for my next promotion as well. Wow! My husband also a powered business man also works with the practice and his life has also been transformed. So we said what the heck lets work as a couple. The Gottman Technique has helped us build on the foundation of trust and commitment in our relationship.
