Getting to know Leah McLaughlin

The decision to see a therapist is one of the most important ones you can make because it means you have chosen to change the course of your emotional life. All humans are wired to feel emotions deeply, and sometimes we can be overwhelmed by their power. I understand how difficult it can be to live with depression or anxiety, and I want you to know that you are not alone in your struggles. These are common and treatable conditions that can significantly impact your daily life and well-being. It takes a lot of courage to seek therapy, and I want to reassure you that I am here to support you and help you find relief from your symptoms. I know it can be overwhelming to navigate these challenges on your own, and it may feel like you have been struggling for a long time. But there is hope, and with the right support and guidance, you can learn to manage your symptoms and improve your overall well-being. I am here to listen to your concerns and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your needs and helps you reach your therapeutic goals. You deserve to feel better, and I am committed to helping you get there. I believe everyone has the potential to grow and change, and it is my role as a therapist to provide a safe and supportive space for that process to occur. I am non-judgmental and open-minded, working collaboratively with my clients to help them develop the insights and skills they need to live fulfilling lives. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from New York University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate and effective care. If you are looking for a therapist who is dedicated, experienced, and caring, I encourage you to reach out and schedule an appointment. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and help you reach your therapeutic goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a licensed psychotherapist, I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. With a master's degree in social work from New York University and years of experience working with individuals in midlife and older adulthood, I have the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, effective support. I specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and life transitions. I approach therapy in a holistic manner, taking into account not just the symptoms you're experiencing, but also your unique circumstances and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As a therapist, my approach is goal-directed and client-focused. I believe that therapy should be tailored to the unique needs and goals of each individual client, and I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their specific therapeutic goals and develop a treatment plan that will help them to achieve those goals. I use a range of evidence-based therapies and techniques in my practice, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. I believe that the most effective treatment approaches are those that empower clients to take an active role in their own healing and growth, and I strive to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where my clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Therapy can be a challenging and vulnerable process. My goal is to help you develop the insights, skills, and coping strategies you need to overcome your challenges and lead a more fulfilling life.
