Hi. My name is Leah. I come from an artistic background, having earned a BA in Musical Theatre. I graduated from The City College of New York with a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. I am a certified NYS Rape Crisis Advocate, with years of experience assisting survivors in an emergency room setting. Recently, I worked at an organization providing individual and group therapy services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Our emotions guide us through life. I aspire to create a therapeutic environment that harnesses the transformative power of emotions to promote healing and growth. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for change, as it provides a foundation of trust, empathy, and support. Through this secure relationship, I aim to assist individuals in accessing underlying emotions, deepening their emotional engagement, and shaping new emotional experiences, thereby fostering a clearer understanding of their present experience. By integrating psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and attachment-oriented experiential techniques, I aim to assist individuals in navigating life’s complexities.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I work to create an authentic therapeutic environment that is safe, empathetic, and supportive. I collaborate with clients to determine therapeutic focus. My aim is to meet clients where they are now and to support them in reaching where they want to be.
