Getting to know Leeann Grant

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy University. I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and life transitions, including grief and other challenges. My approach I believe everyone is the expert in their own life. I’m here to help, guide, and challenge you to better understand what has happened, why you think the way you do, what you gain from those patterns, and how to change them. I use an eclectic approach, incorporating CBT, Psychodynamic therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to identify patterns and beliefs, explore their origins, and find ways to move forward at your own pace. My focus I primarily work with individual adults facing a variety of challenges, from anxiety and depression to significant or minor transitions, grief, and self-perception. My communication style I’m laid back and create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel safe. I’m a curious therapist who asks questions to better understand your world. I’m also not afraid to challenge you because therapy is a space to face uncomfortable situations and find your way to a place where discomfort no longer holds you back. My journey to mental healthcare I’ve been in the mental health profession for over 24 years, after switching from a medical path that began in research and working with individuals with severe mental illness. I then worked as a case manager, supporting those diagnosed with severe mental illness in their homes to maintain quality of life and independence. While pursuing my degree in mental health counseling, I worked in a community behavioral health clinic providing therapy and psychiatry services to underserved individuals.
