Getting to know Lynn Heffern

Welcome! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience supporting children, teens, and families across school and clinical settings. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed care, with a focus on helping individuals navigate emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges through strength-based, compassionate support. Whether in schools or private settings, I’m here to help clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to treatment is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and respected, meeting each individual where they are emotionally and developmentally. Drawing from trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and strength-based strategies, I work with clients to build resilience, develop coping skills, and move toward personal growth at a pace that feels right for them. Whether through individual sessions or group work, I aim to foster trust and connection, empowering clients to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and clarity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in working with teens and young adults who are navigating the complex transitions and challenges that come with this stage of life. From identity and peer relationships to academic stress, anxiety, and emotional ups and downs. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where young people can be themselves, feel understood, and build tools for resilience, self-awareness, and emotional regulation. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to support and guide you through it. I bring a casual, down-to-earth tone to my sessions, creating a space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves. I’m here to listen, support, and guide, never to judge or pressure. My role is to walk alongside you as you figure out what works best for you, offering encouragement, insight, and tools along the way.
