Getting to know Martina Gordon

Disclaimer: Providers at Canino Psychotherapy focus on therapy services and do not prescribe medication, as they are not psychiatrists. I welcome the part of you that has decided to make a positive change in the here and now. As a mental health professional and licensed social worker with a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, I strive to create a space of safety where we can work together to help you tell your story in all of its complexity. I view therapy as a collaborative process that deepens our self-awareness, fosters emotional growth, utilizes our creative senses, and provides us with the tools to create lasting change. My training spans the following areas: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Substance Use Counseling, Mindfulness, and Somatic Therapy. While my main approach is psychodynamic, I integrate tailored, evidence-based modalities based on your unique needs and future goals. I specialize in symptom reduction with a specific focus on depression, anxiety, and coping with trauma and loss. My experience is wide-ranging both in setting and in psychosocial concerns; I actively consider diversity and inclusivity in my practice. My goal is to co-create a therapeutic environment that is comfortable, compassionate, and responsive to your experience. I believe that all individuals are capable of change and growth when given the space for exploration and healing.
