“First session in, and I totally feel as if I've been talking to here for years now. The minutes just quickly counted down, and I was disappointed when the session was over. I felt like I could continue talking till the following day. She was definitely inviting and soothing. And as a newbie to the therapy scence, I felt relaxed and at time as soon as she introduced herself to me ”

“Dr. Melissa Robinson has been a huge help with my triplets. She has made remedies for them that they are currently using now. Ava would put up a fight before bedtime and now she just goes easily. Olivia would have these tantrums throughout the day and now she is much calmer. Evan was showing signs of autism and with her help he tested negative on the spectrum. We couldn't be happier and so thankful for her continous help.”

Getting to know Dr. Melissa Robinson-Brown

Hey there! I’m Melissa Robinson-Brown, but that’s a whole mouthful — so please call me Dr. Mel. I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, speaker, a gym-obsessed girlie, and a boundary-lover who believes therapy is your space to breathe, unpack, and be fully you — not a place where you have to perform or play by outdated rules. With over 22 years of experience, I can honestly say I love what I do. I’m fascinated by how the pieces of your life connect — every win, wound, and turning point — and how small, intentional tweaks to that puzzle can open up an entirely new way of living. I work with women who’ve checked every box — career, family, success — yet still feel stuck, anxious, or running on empty. Together, we explore the real stuff: perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing, trauma, the exhaustion of being everyone’s go-to, and the weight that comes with carrying it all. Therapy with me is culturally grounded, honest, and action-driven. I’ll bring warmth, humor, and accountability — cheering you on and calling you in when something’s blocking your shine. If you’re ready to stop faking fine and start living like the powerhouse you are, let’s work. ????

What should a new client know about working with you?

You’re gonna WERK when you sit with me. Period. ???? I’m not the “sit in silence and nod for forty-five minutes” kind of therapist. I’m active, curious, and fully engaged. I’ll ask the kind of questions that make you pause mid-sentence and say, “Damn… I never thought about it that way.” I laugh with you, I’ll cry with you, and yes—every now and then—I snatch edges with love. Growth doesn’t come from comfort; it comes from truth told in a space safe enough to hold it. With 22 years of experience, every ounce of who I am shows up in the room with you: a Black woman, a wife, a mom, an entrepreneur, a former perfectionist, and a believer in radical honesty. I know what it’s like to be “the strong one,” to hold it all together while no one notices your unraveling. I built this space for you to finally exhale—fully, freely, and without apology. Here’s the thing: I’m going to hold up the mirror. Sometimes it’ll reflect your brilliance; other times, it’ll show you what’s been standing in your way. I’ll call you in—not out—because I know what it takes to grow beyond survival. I’m not here to fix you; I’m here to help you remember who the hell you are underneath the armor. Clients tell me therapy with me feels like sitting with someone who sees them—someone who won’t let them hide behind polished answers or perfection. I bring warmth, humor, cultural depth, and accountability. I’ll hold you through the hard parts and remind you that vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s power. When we work together, expect real talk, not rehearsed scripts. Expect to be challenged and stretched, but also celebrated. Expect to be seen in ways that might feel uncomfortable at first—and then deeply freeing. You’ll leave each session a little lighter, clearer, and more connected to your truth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions with me are real, intentional, and sometimes messy — in the best way. (I’ve been told I like messy… and honestly, that might be a lil’ true.) I’m not here to coddle you; I’m here to help you grow. You’ll laugh, you might cry, and at some point, I’ll hold up a mirror so you can see what’s really going on beneath the surface. That’s where transformation starts. We begin by slowing things down and piecing together your story — the experiences, expectations, and patterns that shaped you. Once we understand what’s been driving your choices, we decide what stays, what goes, and what needs to be rewritten. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; everything we do is tailored to you. My work is active, collaborative, and culturally attuned. I pull from evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT-informed strategies, and mindfulness, but I weave them into real conversations that meet you where you are. You’ll leave each session with insight you can actually use — because awareness without action doesn’t actually make change. Expect honesty and accountability. I’ll ask the tough questions, challenge your patterns, and call you in with compassion and humor. You’ll learn how to pause before reacting, communicate with confidence, and build boundaries that protect your peace without guilt. Some weeks will feel light and empowering. Others might get raw and heavy. Either way, you’ll always walk out with clarity, tools, and a deeper connection to yourself.

Dr. Robinson-Brown was very warm and made it feel easy to talk about myself. This is not always easy for me, so she clearly knows how to make a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend that you see her if you are looking for an understanding therapist.

I felt like Dr. Brown was very attentive and allowed me time to process my feelings w/o judgment. She offered different perspectives on my issue which helped me develop more insight into why/how I need to approach particular areas in my life. She made the environment warm and inviting.
