Dr. Gur is warm, caring and insightful, and I felt comfortable speaking with her from the very start of therapy. I was in a relationship for many years that was going nowhere, but I didn't really see that before therapy. Dr. Gur helped me realize how little value I placed on myself and my needs in the relationship. Thank to my work with Dr. Gur, I learned to speak up for what I want and to place more value on what I want

More about Dr. Merav Gur-Lobl, PhD

I am a NY licensed clinical psychologist, a former adjunct professor and supervisor at Columbia University TC (teaching treatment techniques to Ph.D candidates) and I have extensive experience as a psychotherapist. I was trained at Teachers College, Columbia University, at Columbia University Medical Center (postdoctoral training and an Asst Professor) and at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center. I specialize in treating individuals who suffer from worry and anxiety (panic, social), depression, low self worth, or are having difficulties in relationships. I also specialize in the treatment of pre/post partum depression/anxiety and in adjustment to parenting. More generally, I provide psychotherapy to individuals who are dissatisfied with their interpersonal relationships or with their career and who aspire to lead a more meaningful life. I am trained in several different treatment modalities, including insight oriented psychotherapy (psychodynamic psychotherapy), CBT (including mindfulness based), DBT, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). I tailor my approach to each individual's needs and goals, and work collaboratively with each client. Psychotherapy leads to better self-knowledge, and therefore, to making healthier life choices. Often, the process of psychotherapy enables individuals to accomplish more of their life goals, to accept themselves and increase confidence, while reducing uncomfortable symptoms that may interfere in daily living. I believe that successful treatments are based on a warm, supportive and non-judgmental therapeutic environment, in which the client can comfortably explore issues and experience a good connection with the therapist. I am fluent in English and Hebrew and I also work with Orthodox patients. You can learn more at www.meravgurphd.com
