What should a new client know about working with you?

I am Dr. Meredith Porter, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of clinical experience in chemical dependency, addictive behaviors and compulsions, harm reduction strategies, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, depression, grief and loss, chronic pain, end-of-life transitions, mental health impacted by the onset of medical conditions, and culturally-informed practice. I received my BA degree in Theology and Philosophy from Boston College. I have my MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute. I studied at Rhodes University in South Africa with a specialty in African History and Theology. My work experience began over 25 years ago in social services, including shelter-based care and hospice work. I have also worked in correctional and residential treatment settings, and have provided family therapy in-home for parents and children in the CPS/CFS system. Most recently, I have worked in hospital settings in psychiatric and addiction medicine departments, and I provide clinical supervision for predoctoral interns training in addiction medicine.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Experiencing fulfillment, joy, and meaning are the results every client can expect from the right therapist. Being focused on the results of your therapy will be my primary concern.
