NY
Michelle Horne-Findley has always been rooted in the belief that the success of all communities depends on giving back, both locally and globally. During the summer of 2020, Michelle made a very intentional decision to pivot and earn a Master's Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Forensics. This served as the catalyst for honoring her commitment to her local and global communities. After earning her MSW degree in May 2022, Michelle became employed with the Center for Justice Innovation's Manhattan Justice Opportunities, an Alternative to Incarceration Program (ATI). As a Forensic Social Worker at Manhattan Justice Opportunities, Michelle works closely with the New York City District Attorney's Office, specifically the Assistant District Attorney's Special Narcotics Unit. Additionally, she supports participants' mental health counseling and facilitates psychoeducational groups. She assumed a lead role in organizing Manhattan Justice Opportunities' extremely successful inaugural Community Resource Fair. Recently, she was selected to join the Center for Justice Innovation's lobbying team and is officially registered with the state of New York as a lobbyist. Michelle has over 15 years of experience as a Risk Management and Accounting Professional and over 8 years of experience as an Adjunct Professor. She holds an MSW in Social Work and a B.S./M.S. in Accounting, both from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. Currently, she serves as the treasurer of the UNA-USA Brooklyn Chapter and is a general board member of Heart in Haiti. Michelle is also a proud graduate member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the first intercollegiate historically African American sorority.
