Psychologist
IL
Hi there, I'm Molly! Hello! My name is Dr. Molly Oxman. I am a clinical psychologist with a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Adler University and a Bachelor's degree from Rollins College. I enjoy working with patients across the lifespan, from young adults working on establishing independence and identity to older adults navigating life's transitions. I utilize cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, providing patients with skills and tools to improve daily functioning. My approach I most often use behavioral therapy, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps individuals connect their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). There are four core tenets of DBT-mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness-which all contribute to one's ability to function in a healthy way. My focus I enjoy working with young adults, college-aged and early adulthood, to assist those during this often difficult period of time. I also work with adults across the lifespan navigating stressful periods, whether that be becoming empty nesters, changing jobs, or managing the unique challenges associated with aging. I most commonly work with individuals presenting with anxiety and mood concerns, as well as relational difficulties. My communication style My communication style is very relaxed and welcoming. I will never push a patient to discuss a topic they are not ready to. I believe you are the expert on yourself. I see my role as helping to guide and support you through difficult periods, as well as building tools and strategies to continue navigating stress in a healthier way.
