Rachelle Sunderland, LCSW

Rachelle Sunderland, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New York State, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Widener University. I work with adolescents and adults, specializing in trauma, anxiety, stress, and depression using a Phase Oriented Approach. This approach incorporates the development of safety and stabilization, mindfulness, and grounding skills before delving into the deeper work of processing core issues and experiences through Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My approach to therapy varies based on each client’s needs. I most frequently use Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy. These methods not only help manage current distress but also allow those interested to explore and resolve the core issues provoking their symptoms. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adolescents and adults who may be struggling to understand themselves and their choices. This often presents as anxiety, depression, and stress, frequently caused by unresolved conflicts outside of awareness. I help clients understand why symptoms surface and connect this self-awareness to ways of modifying and transforming their responses to life, improving overall well-being. My communication style is calm, inquisitive, accommodating, down-to-earth, and personable. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable and safe discussing anything with me, without fear of judgment. Looking back, I believe I have always had an innate interest in human emotions, thoughts, and behavior. My own journey of self-exploration and discovery has led me to significant healing and fuels my passion for mental healthcare.
