Getting to know Rebecca Snyder

*Please Expect a Phone Call from our Office - Resilience Therapy - to confirm your scheduled appointment request.* I cultivate a warm and inviting environment where the relationship you hold with yourself comes first. I specialize in trauma, eating disorders, chronic pain, and the complicated ways our bodies hold what our minds struggle to process. Using evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Gottman Method, AEDP, and DBT, I work with individuals and couples who are ready to go beyond surface-level coping and heal. My clients often come to me after having tried therapy and feeling like something was missing. Like they understood their patterns intellectually but couldn't shift them. That's exactly what our work together will address. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and I offer both in-person sessions at our Midtown Manhattan office and telehealth. I'm currently self-pay and provide detailed superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My clinical toolkit is specialized and used intentionally to support my work with adolescents and adults feeling the stress of complicated family dysfunction, childhood trauma, eating disorders, and chronic pain illness. EMDR is particularly effective for trauma that traditional talk therapy hasn't fully resolved; IFS helps clients build a compassionate relationship with the parts of themselves they've been fighting; Gottman Method gives couples concrete tools for breaking destructive cycles. I’m a therapist that truly understands the complex ways people cope with adversity and offers a relational lens to help you confront challenges in new, more productive ways.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The therapeutic relationship matters most in creating lasting change. I emphasize that most symptoms and experiences don’t occur in isolation, whether that be trauma, chronic pain, or disordered eating. We’ll start with an in-depth intake because understanding your full history will help create the roadmap for our work and direct us towards best outcomes. From there, treatment is collaborative and paced for you. We may move between processing trauma with EMDR, building internal resources with IFS, and developing practical coping skills with DBT or CBT depending on what's most useful for you. Progress is the goal, not indefinite processing, to help you feel more in control and empowered in your daily life.
