“Dr. Sawicky is first very knowledgeable and secondly, he has a very reassuring and affirming way in which he helps you come to conclusions about your own life and or situation. He also has a great sense of humor which is always a plus in my book. You could say he‚Äôs the voice in my head which is a good voice to have”

Getting to know Robert Sawicky

Hello: I am Robert Sawicky, a licensed psychologist with a PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor's degree from Yale University. I have many years of experience assisting with challenges in making a successful marriage and addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, social phobias, self-esteem, and various forms of shameful self-sabotage. My approach My therapeutic orientation is client-centered, eclectic, and collaborative—utilizing an individualized approach to foster personal empowerment, self-trust, and enhanced self-acceptance. Relationships with others are extensions of the relationship we have with ourselves. My focus I start from the presumption that taking ourselves seriously and learning how to "get out of our way" are two of the more difficult initial challenges all of us confront. Committing to talking therapy requires courage to face anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and perhaps a lifetime of toxic shame, toward realizing healing and enhanced self-acceptance. My communication style I am committed to being professionally collaborative, encouraging, and accepting. I seek to create an alliance with my clients that does not involve pushing or pulling. I don’t emotionally feed my clients; instead, I help them learn how to emotionally feed themselves. My journey to mental healthcare Family systems tend to be more or less dysfunctional. My family of origin was no exception. I wanted to better understand this to navigate adulthood. I did not receive genuine assistance along the way. After pursuing many professions as an adult, I found my way back to what intrigued me as a youngster—human behavior and its curious iterations. I returned to school as a more experienced student and became an engaged psychotherapy client. Now, I feel I am a "more experienced therapist." My goals for you I see my role as a facilitator in clarifying treatment goals.
