CA
Hi there, I'm Ronald! I am Dr. Ron Gellis, a Christian and Licensed Clinical, Forensic, and Sports Neuropsychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree from Columbia University. I have served in the Navy and am passionate about working with Veterans, First Responders, and their families. I played Division 1 soccer, have run 20 marathons, taught scuba, am an award-winning underwater photographer, and competed at the CrossFit Games for three years. I am here to help you. My approach I specialize in the treatment of trauma and addiction, utilizing evidence-based approaches. I focus on Post Traumatic Growth and Grief counseling where indicated. I am intimately familiar with 12-Step Programs and Christ-Centered Recovery. Clinically, I take an integrative approach that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of healing. I believe healing takes place within the context of healthy relationships. My focus I am passionate about working with Veterans, First Responders, and families, especially the often-overlooked population of their children. My communication style I utilize mindfulness tools with particular emphasis on breathing, visualization, and positivity. I focus on cognitive domains such as gratitude, resentment (anger), forgiveness, and amends (repentance) as foundational for healthy relationships. My journey to therapy I grew up in a home affected by addiction, domestic violence, and other mental health challenges. By the grace of God, I survived childhood suicide attempts and found sobriety and healing through the 12-Step Program, my discovery of Jesus Christ, and many years of therapy. My goals for you Goals are intrinsic to the therapeutic treatment plan, and I utilize a SMART goal-setting format. I focus on what brought the client into treatment and match their reason with a practical, pragmatic, solution-based framework.
