Getting to know Samantha Vasquez

We provide in-network services for Mount Sinai Top Tier plans administered by UMR, supporting employees and their eligible family members. All other patients are self-pay and seen on an out-of-network basis, as Top Tier is the only insurance plan with which we participate. I am a New York State licensed clinical social worker with advanced certification in Oncology Social Work at Mind Matters Psychology Group. I support individuals across all age groups—adults, young adults, adolescents, and children, as well as families —who are navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, women's issues, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, work-related stress, school issues, and peer conflict. I also provide compassionate care for those experiencing medical trauma, chronic illness, cancer diagnoses, survivorship, loss, and grief. I have a deep understanding of cultural and racial identity, immigration experiences, and the ongoing process of acculturation and integration while honoring one's roots and values. As a bicultural and multilingual therapist, I offer a culturally attuned environment, with services in both English and Spanish and welcome individuals from all backgrounds.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy is a shared space where we commit to showing up as our authentic selves. Together, we create a foundation of safety and trust, allowing for meaningful growth in the areas you choose to explore. At the heart of successful therapy is a genuine connection and a strong therapeutic alliance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My therapeutic approach is warm, humanistic, and strength-based. While grounded in psychodynamic perspectives, I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, solution-focused, meaning-making, trauma-informed, and person-centered. I adapt treatment to meet your specific needs. I believe in tailoring care that is effective and aligned with who you are. Whether you or your child are navigating a personal challenge, managing daily stressors, or seeking deep healing and self-discovery, I look forward to supporting you on your path toward wellbeing.

Finding the right therapist for a teenage girl can be challenging, but we feel incredibly fortunate to have found Samantha. Our daughter felt comfortable from the very first session, and over time we really saw her grow — she learned healthier ways to cope, became more in touch with her emotions, and started to feel more like herself again. We are so thankful for Samantha's support.
