Psychologist
CA
I am a licensed psychologist in Northern California with an Educational Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Counseling Psychology. I have 25 years of experience in the field of psychology. I have been honored by many clients who have said that I am a great listener and that they feel comfortable discussing even the most uncomfortable issues with me because I focus on problem-solving, skill-building, and helping them explore their lives in ways that bring more meaning and positivity into their daily lives. My approach I have a Client-Centered approach to sessions, which allows clients to express their concerns in a way and at a pace that is comfortable for them. Then, depending on the client’s goals, we explore issues with either Existentialism or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I may use other therapeutic approaches also when they seem appropriate for the client. My focus I have extensive experience working with law enforcement and first responders since most of my career has been working in California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. My experience also includes employment in Group Homes. I help my clients through the many life transitions that can cause feelings of grief and loss, anxiety and depression, and fear of an unknown future, such as loss of a loved one, loss of career, or divorce. My communication style I am able to provide a safe and calm session that is soothing to my clients. I allow my clients to use our time as they wish, and we discuss the focus and direction of the sessions as ultimately decided by the client. Sessions are pleasant conversations that may include a bit of humor now and then, too. My journey to mental healthcare I am a very curious person. I really find people’s life stories fascinating, and I love to find out how people make decisions about their lives. Psychology became the perfect match for me as a career because I can work closely with others to improve their lives, learn from each other, and grow as people.
