I combine evidence-based psychotherapy with clinical hypnosis — an integrative approach that works with both conscious insight and the deeper, automatic patterns behind anxiety and old habits. Clinical hypnosis isn't about losing control; it's a focused, relaxed state that can make therapeutic change feel more accessible. I work with clients to ease anxiety, loosen the beliefs and habits that keep them feeling stuck, and process trauma at a pace that feels safe. My aim is to help you build practical tools and lasting relief, so you can move forward feeling more grounded and free.

Getting to know Dr. Serge Sorokin

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session is mostly about understanding your story — your history, what brought you in, and the specific changes you'd like to see. From there, we'll set clear goals together, and that direction shapes the work going forward. I find that having a focus helps therapy feel purposeful rather than open-ended. I draw on evidence-based psychotherapy and, when it's a good fit for you, clinical hypnosis. Hypnosis here simply means a focused, relaxed state of attention — you stay aware and in control the whole time — that can help us work with the patterns underneath anxiety, stress, and old habits. I'll always explain an approach before we use it, and we move at a pace that feels safe to you. You can expect sessions that are warm but also organized around the goals we set. I check in regularly on what's working and adjust the plan as we go, so the work keeps moving in a direction that matters to you. From time to time I may suggest an optional practice to try between sessions — small, manageable things that can reinforce progress, never busywork. There's no pressure to have it all figured out before you reach out. My aim is for you to leave each session with a clearer sense of direction and practical tools you can actually use.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin with one or two sessions focused on assessment — talking through your history, current concerns, symptoms, and what you're hoping to change. This gives us a shared picture of what's going on and helps me recommend an approach suited to you. We then set specific, realistic goals that guide the work from there. A typical session usually starts with a brief check-in on how things have felt since we last met. From there, we move into focused work toward your goals. Depending on what we're addressing, that might be talk therapy — processing experiences, building skills, examining the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck — or, when it's a good fit, a segment of clinical hypnosis to work with those patterns at a deeper level. I'll always explain what we're doing and why, and nothing happens without your understanding and consent. We close each session by reflecting on any takeaways, and at times I'll suggest an optional practice to carry the work between visits. Periodically, we'll step back to review progress against your goals and adjust the plan if something isn't serving you. Throughout, the process is structured but flexible — organized enough to keep moving in a clear direction, responsive enough to meet what's actually present for you on a given day.
