“I've only had my first session but it was impressive and just felt right, like I was in good hands. I've done intakes with about 5 therapists trying to find one for me, and none had Sisy's presence, care and insight. I finished our first session feeling lighter and more hopeful than I did coming in, and will be working with her going forward!”

“My husband and I have worked with Alejandra for the past two years in couples therapy. Our first session was at the beginning of the pandemic - we were new parents dealing with income loss in a tiny apartment with no childcare. In that first session, Alejandra helped us to feel less overwhelmed and identify what it was we needed most. She has since helped us through a move, a health crisis and many tough parenting decisions. Alejandra listens thoughtfully, asks smart questions and always makes me feel heard. I highly recommend! ”

Getting to know Sisy Valdiviezo

Welcome! Embarking on a journey of deeper understanding of ourselves is the foundation toward peace and contentment. Congratulations on taking the first step on that endeavor! I believe we heal in relationships where we feel fully seen and accepted, and where we can experience ourselves in broader, deeper, and more integrated ways. I work with people who have experienced marginalization in larger society, community, school, or workplace (race, gender, class, ethnicity) or within their families (neglect, abandonment, abuse). I believe that exclusion and oppression have insidious and long-lasting effects on self-esteem, self-confidence, agency, and trust in relationships. These harmful effects frequently manifest as feelings of invisibility, fear, shame, guilt, grief, confusion, not being good enough, being less than, and not belonging. I specialize in cultural and systemic oppression issues that impact the well-being and relationships of people with marginalized experiences. As a Latina, immigrant, and bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist, I have dedicated my work to addressing the unique challenges faced by women, BIPOC, immigrants, and bicultural couples and families. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York, holding a Master's in Social Work from New York University. I also have certificates of postgraduate training in couple and family therapy and EMDR.

Alejandra has been the first therapist to make me feel comfortable with sharing my life story and challenges. She is a great listener, thoughtful, extremely caring, and provides me with the reflections o need about myself and my life. She also provides me with tools to manage my anxiety. Our sessions are very engaging and helpful and I always take notes to refer to after. She challenges me with important reflections and questions to consider after my sessions. My self awareness and self love has increased significantly and she has helped me feel empowered. I see the world and my life in a very different light. I would highly recommend her services.

Alejandra is an extremely thoughtful and astute therapist. She always made me feel heard and understood while offering her own valuable perspective whenever it was appropriate. She helped me make some real lasting and positive changes both in my own life and my relationships with others. Would recommend her to anyone!

Sisy is a lovely person and a wonderful therapist. I look forward to our appointments and I feel considerably less anxious after. I 100% recommend her.
Alejandra has been fantastic. She asks very insightful questions, and has given me helpful tools to understand and better deal with whatever's going on. All the logistics have been seamless too: good communication, really straightforward billing, etc.
Everything was excellent
Alejandra has a wonderful demeanor and a very calming, reassuring presence. Her work with my daughter has been remarkable, she has already given her so many tools to cope with her anxiety, and helped boost her confidence and self esteem. I highly recommended this wonderful and very talented therapist!
Alejandra is great! I was SUPER skeptical about therapy for years, but after doing my research, I finally decided to give it a try. I took a chance with Alejandra, with the expectation that I was going to have to try a few therapists before I found one I liked, but I was so wrong! I don't even want to find anyone else, because she has made me feel so comfortable, is a great listener, and really remembers everything we speak about for each session. I am grateful to have found her on the first try, and would definitely recommend her.

She is very professional
Sisy is a great therapist. In our first session, she made me very comfortable and I felt that I could speak openly. We have only had 3 or 4 sessions together and she has already helped me so much. The office is a very peaceful and clean environment. I would recommend her to anyone in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area!

I’ve been seeing Alejandra for a while now and she really is an amazing therapist. I was extremely surprised at how quickly I felt comfortable with her and she has maintained that level of comfort and compassion as time has gone on. Sometimes it feels as if I’m with a therapist and sometimes it feels as if I’m just venting to a friend; personally need both and she’s really good at picking up on which is necessary at what time. She’s also helped me a lot with issues centering race/identity, career choices/goals, and relationships (my relationship with myself, family, and romantic). She has a way of validating your emotions and also helping you find more positive/beneficial ways to navigate issues. I’m looking forward to continuing therapy with her this year!
Alejandra is someone who easy to talk to and helps to navigate your thoughts on anything you might bring up during your session. I always feel I’ve made progress in my journey to managing my anxiety after I have spoken to her and feel very lucky to have a safe space to talk with her. I highly recommend her for anyone who needs a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental therapist.
Dr.Valdiviezo has what is the most important to me: ability to listen with empathy, objectivism and what seemed a sincere interest and concern . She was open to our ideas and respectful for our thoughts, gave us space to draw our own conclusions, and then suggested some techniques and tools to deal better with some issues my husband and I had. Dr.Alejandra has a sense of humor similar to ours ,which helped defuse the tension when it grew during heated discussions between me and my other half. Also,if this is not crazy to memtion, she is a beautiful and warm woman whose presence makes the room...beautiful and warm.
I really appreciate my sessions with Alejandra-- she is kind, understanding, and insightful. She's given me a lot of much-needed perspective, and as someone who's not had very good luck with previous therapists, I'm glad to have found someone I can talk freely with.
Alejandra is the most intuitive and thoughtful therapist I've ever worked with. Not only does she listen and offer practical feedback, but she emits a soothing, kind energy that is becoming increasingly rare in New York City. Besides her spirit, her office is clean, quiet, and meditative, which is a must for anxiety-riddled patients. I highly recommend her for all your mental health needs!
It took me over a year to find a therapist with Alejandra’s credentials and background and the wait was so worth it. As a person of color and who has been navigating spaces that havent been so accepting of poc, I started to deal with anxiety related to it. Alejandra not only validated my feelings but also provided me with the tools to work on improving and having a healthier life. Alejandra is professional, compassionate and understanding. She deals with different issues and diverse backgrounds. Im really thankful I found her.
