Getting to know Dr. Tricia Shihui Wang

Pronouns: They/Them Hello! I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 13 years of experience providing relationally-oriented psychotherapy and specialized psychological evaluations. I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duquesne University and an M.Phil.Ed from the University of Pennsylvania. I operate an exclusively telehealth-based practice designed to be accessible, transparent, and deeply attuned to the complexities of modern life. My practice is divided into two core areas: 1. Specialized Evaluations: I provide highly structured, non-pathologizing assessments with transparent pricing. This includes adult autism assessments (incl. high-masking and late-diagnosed), single-session gender-affirming surgery evaluations, and N-648 citizenship waiver evaluations. 2. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: I offer a safe, collaborative space for adults navigating depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and life transitions. We work together to understand troubling patterns and foster emotional growth. I am deeply committed to providing culturally responsive care for individuals from diverse and marginalized communities, specifically BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and immigrant populations. I am in-network with Aetna and provide superbills + automated claim submission for out-of-network benefits.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is grounded, down-to-earth, and firmly rooted in a feminist and cultural lens. This means I do not view your struggles in a vacuum. I integrate a systemic understanding of how you are shaped by the political, socio-cultural, and racial systems in which you live. Whether we are working together in long-term therapy or meeting for a single-session evaluation, my priority is to provide an identity-affirming space. My style is dynamic. I am not a "blank screen" therapist. I will listen carefully, but I will also respond emotionally, offer straightforward feedback, and challenge you in ways that encourage your growth and agency. You can expect a process that is highly transparent, and I rely on your continuous feedback to ensure our work aligns with your evolving goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Because my practice offers both therapy and specialized testing, our process will depend entirely on what brings you in. For Psychotherapy: We start by building a secure relationship where you feel comfortable expressing what is most on your mind. Our work will fluctuate between exploring how past experiences shape you and addressing the current challenges in your daily life. We will look at previously adaptive habits that may now be getting in the way of a richer, more enjoyable life. Because we meet via a secure video platform, I prioritize creating a digital space that feels just as focused and connected as an in-person office. For Psychological Evaluations: The process is highly structured and objective. We will clearly outline the necessary clinical interviews or testing required to answer your specific diagnostic or documentation questions. My goal during assessments is to provide precise clinical clarity and actionable next steps while honoring your lived experience.
