Psychologist
FL
I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist committed to helping people live more fulfilling lives with less struggle. I believe in the innate beauty and potential revealed when we embrace our full humanity, including parts we may feel shameful about. My work facilitates a profound internal paradigm shift that leads to less struggle with uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, and more clarity and motivation to take actions that create a meaningful life, drawing from the latest evidence-based therapy approaches—get ready to practice some mindfulness exercises with me! I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary and completed fellowships and internships at Florida International University, the University of San Francisco, and Occidental College. These experiences enriched my clinical skills and deepened my understanding of diverse populations. -- Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) -- I offer a cutting-edge “psychedelic” therapeutic modality called Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), which uses ketamine alongside traditional talk therapy. I deliver KAP in partnership with Journey Clinical, whose specialized medical team determines eligibility, prescribes ketamine lozenges, and supports monitoring outcomes. I’ve seen profound changes through this work and am excited to be part of the cultural shift toward more curiosity, knowledge, and acceptance of psychedelics as healing medicine. -- LGBTQueer -- As a queer man, I’m passionate about facilitating breakthroughs for LGBTQ+ folks. I’m often sought out by other queer people who value care from a queer-identified provider who understands their circumstances and struggles. I have also worked extensively with people in tech, including a 3-year stint at the onsite health center at Meta headquarters in Silicon Valley, giving me a unique inside look at the stressors of today’s corporate workforce.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm a super down-to-earth therapist and do my best to meet each client on a very personal level, while still maintaining the professionalism required of my role. Be ready to receive personalized support and develop insights around the workings of you own mind, both your thinking patterns and emotional reactions, and how to best understand how to work with these internal experiences. Together we will uncover your core values, and harness their power to move you forward in your life in a meaningful way, characterized by both contentment and gratitude for the life you have. In additional to my formal psychological training, I'm also a Certified Mindfulness Teacher, demonstrating both my personal and professional interest in the healing power of deep mindfulness practice and philosophy. As such, potential clients should be prepared to receive strong support from me to begin prioritizing their own needs and set aside some time each day for personal reflection and mindfulness practice, even in the midst of their very busy lives. If this sounds impossible for you, I am confident that I can help this become a reality for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At a first session, I usually get to know a client more informally, exploring what brings them to therapy at this time, what they would like to work on, and what "success" in therapy looks like to them. After this session I do a more standardized assessment session in which I gather the mental health history, as a doctor might conduct a medical history review when establishing care. From that point forward, my goal is to conduct each session in such a way that the client feels supported in whatever may be going on in their life at the moment, with an eye toward also developing a deeper understanding of their own mind, both thoughts and emotions, and how they can relate to these internal experiences in an increasingly helpful way to help free up some of their blocked energy to focus more on living their lives, rather than struggling with themselves. Sometimes this includes the occasional worksheet or reflection questions, and more often than not involves both in-session and between-session practice of a mindfulness-based exercise or skill presented within the session, with plenty of focus on making sure the client feels understood and supported throughout the process.
