Psychologist

A major theme in my life is to be a glass for others. This mission started when my parents named me Yuri, which means “glass” in Korean. My parents gave me this name with the hope that I might be transparent and versatile—like glass—and thus, helpful to those with whom I interact. I have had the honor of fulfilling my life mission by providing therapy to diverse individuals across the U.S. as well as South Korea for years. In therapy, I am mindful of cultural and individual diversity and provide a safe and supportive environment where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. Whenever you are ready, I would be happy to be a glass for you so that you can grow and flourish in your life. My approach I use an integrative approach to therapy, combining Person Centered Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), within a multicultural framework. This approach is to help you understand your own thoughts, feelings, values, and behavioral patterns, develop various coping strategies to navigate life stressors and uncertainties, and engage in actions that are align with your own values. I also recognize everyone’s perspectives and experiences are influenced by cultural backgrounds and individual differences. In this sense, I am eager to learn about your own unique needs and intersectional identities and adapt my approach accordingly to facilitate your progress towards your therapy goals. My focus Have you been feeling lost or not in control of your life? You may feel alone in your struggles and feel like you should figure it out by yourself. However, I hope you know that I’m here for you. I specialize in working with young adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions/adjustment, identity development, self-esteem, and body image concerns. I very much enjoy working with international students/immigrants, Asian Americans, and women of color. I can also offer therapy in both English and the Korean language.
