Dr. Adeima Ibanga, MD

Primary Care Doctor
1918 Randolph Rd, Ste 350, Charlotte, NC
My path to family medicine grew out of an interest in public health and a desire to care for women and families during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. During medical school, I spent years working as a health coach in Camden, New Jersey, helping pregnant women manage diabetes and hypertension through healthier lifestyle choices. That experience showed me how much support families need, not just medical treatment. My residency training in family medicine covered the full range of family care, from managing chronic conditions to delivering babies. I've cared for mothers through pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension and preterm labor, and I've assisted in deliveries and cesarean sections. I also worked alongside lactation consultants, doulas and nurses to provide weekly prenatal care to Spanish-speaking women, counseling them on pregnancy, birth, nutrition and new parenthood. I also have spent time as part of a research team studying ways to increase HPV vaccination rates among adolescents through parent education, and I've collaborated on a project to reduce social isolation among senior citizens and high school students. I hold certifications in advanced life support in obstetrics, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation, and I'm a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Volunteer work is an important part of my life. While living in New Jersey, I assisted with a local crisis response team, supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I've spent years mentoring high school students in South Jersey, teaching them about nutrition, wellness and paths into healthcare careers, work that reminds me why I chose this field in the first place.
