About Dr. Aleena Lakhanpal
Dr. Lakhanpal joined Northwestern Women’s Health Associates in August 2020. She is currently affiliated with Northwestern University as a health system clinician and has privileges in general OB/GYN at Northwestern Memorial/Prentice Women’s Hospital. She has been educated throughout the United States, having received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, then her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, finally completing her training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Arizona in Tucson. During residency, she served as the Chief Resident and was awarded for excellence in Maternal-Fetal Medicine as well as Gynecologic Oncology.
As a general OB/Gyn, Dr. Lakhanpal aims to provide comprehensive and thorough care to women of all stages of life. She strives for continuity of care with her patients and believes that the foundation of excellent care is in the doctor-patient relationship.

Dr. Lakhanpal was very kind and knowledgeable, great provider who seems to really know her stuff and care about the patient.
Support staff was not the same caliber as the doctor, so just be aware. The front office staff made a rude comment about how different I look from my ID photo (taken a year ago before I became severely ill, so to be fair I did look a lot healthier then). Then the nurse went into the exam room while I while I was giving a urine sample and cleaned everything up/touched my personal belongings because she assumed the appointment was over, even though I had yet to be examined.

Dr. Lakhanpal listened to me and showed empathy, made me feel at ease just sharing the issues I’m facing. She gave really actionable solutions for PCOS for which I’ve been looking for solutions since years. Front desk and nurse staff was really patient and nice too!

I think this provider was nice however I didn’t appreciate how she drilled me about my ethnicity and was upset when I told her I didn’t like to speak about it because it is controversial. She asked me about 3 more times in a very aggressive way and made comments like well since you don’t want to tell me about your background. I think small talk is okay sometimes not everybody comes from a background they want to discuss it’s private and I felt very uncomfortable

I’m so relieved to have Dr. Lakhanpal on my care team. She is so warm and makes the appointment feel light and breezy but still professional and thorough. I’m not sure if she takes notes on personal details that patients share with her or what but at the start of every appointment, she asks me things that indicate she remembers little details about me/my job/my personal life. I don’t feel like just another appointment to her and that takes me by surprise every time. For the short time in I’m front of her, I get her full attention. She answers any question I have and never shames me for not knowing something. All of this allows me to feel safe and cared for with her (and the nurses who work there too!) For as long as she’s in-network with my insurance, she will have me as a patient!! I so feel relieved to have found a physician who I can trust with whatever care my body needs in the future.

This was my first experience booking a doc with Zoc Doc, and my little millennial heart can’t help but explode because everything was fantastically efficient. After years of consulting with men providers about my vagina, I truly have experienced the difference with the Dr. I met with today. She was very attentive, knowledgeable, and validating. After years of having doctors gaslight me about my own symptoms, Im relieved to have a doctor who listens to understand and not to respond! I took a chance and what came out of it is now my long term OBGYN.
