Dr. Pereira is part of our next generation of doctors; as a first-generation college graduate and Doctor of Optometry, her journey is truly inspiring. She first came to VED as a patient, where one of our doctors immediately recognized her amazing personality and skills and offered her a position on the spot. ?Alexa,? as our team affectionately calls her, quickly rose through the ranks to become an Ophthalmic Technician at VED. Working alongside our doctors, she discovered her passion and new career in eye care. Now, Alexa has returned to VED as ?Dr. Pereira,? a Board-Certified Optometrist. Dr. Pereira earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry, graduating summa cum laude and as class valedictorian. Additionally, she completed an internship at Capital Eye Consultants. Dr. Pereira specializes in comprehensive family eye care and surgical co-management.
