About Dr. Alicia Genilo

Dr. Ali Genilo enjoys caring for patients of all ages and abilities, though she has a special passion for working with pediatric patients. A Kansas City native, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas. She received her Doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. During her time at SCO, Dr. Genilo was active in various professional organizations and received several honors, including the Outstanding Clinician Award, Clinical Skills Award, and Excellence in Pediatrics and Developmental Vision Award, as well as induction into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and Gold Key Honorary Optometric Society. During her externship rotations, she trained in the areas of adult primary care, pediatrics, contact lenses, and vision therapy and rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Kansas Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association, Optometric Society of Greater Kansas City, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Dr. Genilo and the entire staff was amazing! They were great at explaining things and getting all 4 of my kids exams at the same time. As a busy mom this is huge! Their patience dealing with insurance complications and the level of personal care was amazing. One of my son's has problems with drifting eyes and had a previous surgery at CMH to correct it. We previously went to CMG for all of our kids eye care, but the wait times got to be so long. We really needed a doctor close to home who could handle our son's history. Dr. Genilo's knowledge and expertise was invaluable. Also, the added benefit of their vision therapy services is a huge asset. 5 stars all the way!
They listened, they helped
The staff is always super friendly. When I arrived at my contacts fitting yesterday, they even had me checked in already. And everyone is always unbelievably friendly. I adore Dr. Genilo (and she's fabulous with my boys) and would recommend her in a heartbeat.
Dr. Genilo is great. However, our last visit made us rethink our patronage. We pulled our 3 children out of school and what usually takes less than an hour took almost 2 hours. Then, there are no free warranties on children's glasses you must pay a fee. Sounds like they are trying to save cost, but are pushing it to the customer. Not the same company we fell in live with. Also, the staff no longer asks you what lenses upgrades, they automatically add your previous selection. We had a huge change in finances and would have liked to choose.
My visit was professional, caring and friendly. I appreciate the care provided to listen and try to approve my eye care needs. I have recommended Custom Eyes to others in the past and will continue to do so. Thank you!

I was scared due to my sudden sight change. They fit me in to the schedule right away. The staff and Dr. Genilo were extremely kind and considerate. When I asked questions, they all took the time to explain things without seeming rushed or annoyed.
We have always went to the same optometrist but never really liked the office staff, always rude to my family and seemed like we were a bother coming in with 2 kids at the same time. We had an insurance change and choose to come see your office and WOW everyone and I mean everyone was so friendly, nice, smiled and answered all our questions.
All of the staff was very accommodating and professional and both Dr janello and her nurse were very professional and easy to talk with
I would suggest you change nothing! Your staff are all awesome and friendly as well as the Dr's. They take the time to listen and seem to value my opinion. I recommend Custom Eyes to everyone. Keep up the good work.

I am impressed with the way I was greeted by the staff. My technician that performed the test and preliminary is exceedingly educated cloaked in the people person personality. Quite impressed with the lady. My doctor Alicia Genilo is equally competent. We went through the results discussing what is going on with my eyes as I age. Answered my questions putting me at ease. I am impressed with the two ladies that assisted me and already made my future appointments. Hats off to them! We need to keep this type of personality working at your facility. Looking forward to seeing both of them soon. I think they deserve a bonus.
