Dr. Kessel is an attending physician, practicing medicine for the past 14 years as a skilled OB/GYN doctor. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan with an MS in Biological Sciences and received his MD from Wayne State University in Michigan. He completed his residency training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY. He advanced in NYC in academically affiliated private practices, including New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Kessel is a talented and experienced physician dedicated to office-based and minimally invasive approaches to abnormal uterine bleeding, uterine polyps, fibroids and contraception. His extensive work teaching medicine and his expertise on endometriosis is a valuable asset to the group. Dr. Kessel's is known for his easy-going demeanor, affable personality and patient-centered approach to health care.

Dr. Kessel is a really thorough doctor who listens. He is cautious in his approach, not likely to send you for tests you don't require. If he is concerned about something, he will discuss it with you before recommending a course of action.

Went for my first appointment last night for pre-conception counseling and could not have been more pleased! Dr Kessel was one of the best OBGYN's I have seen. He answered all of our questions and did not make us feel rushed at all. He was honest, laid back, and I am so excited that I am going to be able to use him as my OB!

I guess treatment was fine, but I have to say that the receptionist who first called was incredibly off-putting. I accidentally left my reason for visit on Zocdoc's interface as "annual checkup", and because I wasn't due for my yearly checkup, they just kept aggressively badgering me about why I was coming, and questioning those reasons as if I might not know what I was talking about.
Doctor's treatment was fine, but he made some uncomfortable joke about "ruining my weekend plans" because I couldn't have sex after using this vaginal gel I was prescribed...only to be followed up with him asking, "Wait...how old are you again?". As if the fact that I was 25 made it an okay joke to make.
Both things aren't the hugest deal, but at the end of the day this is an OBGYN office. Reasons for visiting are sensitive and intimately personal in nature, so there should be extra care to make the visit feel welcomed, easy, and comfortable.
