She has extensive experience fitting bifocal contact lenses and managing other types of "hard-to-fit" contact lens patients. Dr. Bernstein is a member of the AOA Contact Lens Section. She is well versed in all aspects of sports-related eye care and protection for both vision-impaired and normal-vision participants. Additionally, she is experienced in both pre- and post-operative LASIK surgery care. Dr. Bernstein’s passion for optometry stems from personal experience. As a child, she suffered from malignant myopia (severe nearsightedness) and understood firsthand how strong, thick glasses can make playing sports difficult and cause a child to feel different from their peers. She brings this empathy and special concern for children to FVCA every day.
