About Dr. Andrew Bainnson
Andrew Bainnson, M.D. is a board-certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in glaucoma and comprehensive ophthalmology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical School, completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at New York Medical College, and pursued a Fellowship in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment at the University of Michigan. Dr. Bainnson focuses on the diagnosis and medical and laser treatment of all forms of glaucoma. In addition to glaucoma, he treats most common ophthalmic disorders including, but not limited to, diabetes, macular degeneration, vascular disorders, cataracts, infections, as well as pediatric eye conditions. During college and medical school, he performed pharmacology research at the University of Michigan and published his results in the Journal of Pharmacology.
A Long Island native who grew up in Plainview, Dr. Bainnson finds the most rewarding part of his job is making a difference in the lives of his patients. Reflecting on the dramatic difference his first pair of glasses made, he demonstrates the passion he has for his work. He believes strongly in the partnership between doctor and patient to ensure the most successful results.

As always, I make it a point to be on time, so the appointment is met within reasonable schedule. No one takes priority and I am in the time slot I made previously. Since I am there and make myself noticed, they have no recourse but to follow the scheduled time for my appointment. All documents were presented for verification, and the billing was easily managed. The doctor was there after the preliminary testing and then the observation was concluded with his expert consulting, and he offered some details to end the conversation.

The office staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. The office was clean and well run. There was little wait time. However, the doctor seemed rushed, although professional and pleasant. I felt that not enough time was spent evaluating my possible vision changes; the eye exam for possible changes to my prescriptions for distance and close work themselves, in my opinion, was quite limited and not performed by the doctor, himself, but by a technician. The evaluation by the technician of my eyesight deficiencies, in my opinion, was too quickly performed, not thorough and lacking in efficacy.

My annual eye exam was efficient with state-of-the-art equipment. Even though it was my first visit to the practice, the doctor didn't look me in the eye or say "nice to meet you". But everyone else was great, and I at this point don't have any health concerns, so I will go back

Found my eye doctor by happenstance. I was looking for an appointment immediately due to a worrisome issue with my right eye so I was willing to accept whatever doctor had an available appointment on Saturday. Dr. Bannison’s office had an opening and everything went wonderfully. The doctor had a calming manner that not only eased my nerves but also helped me trust his professional opinion. I will be going back for future follow up appointments and every other eye related medical need I may have in the future. Most ‘first’ visits to a medical office usually include paperwork, about 15-30 minutes of it, but this appointment was speedy and effortless on my part. Paid my copay and was in the room with the doctor within 10 minutes-ON A SATURDAY. Many thanks!

I found the support staff to be friendly and polite. The office was very clean. As for the doctor who examined my eyes, he seemed a bit distracted and curt. He was thorough with the exam. The information he gave me and recommendation he made to see a different doctor was appreciated. But he seemed impatient and annoyed when I was answering the questions HE asked. I've been seeing Ophthalmologists my ENTIRE life and have had many complications since childhood. This was the first time that a physician seemed annoyed that I explained what I was seeing while I was having my vision checked. Seemed that he wanted one word answers, YES or NO. I've learned that with the vision issues I've been experiencing, I should share this with the Doctor who is examining my eyes. I felt he didn't want to hear my answers. It wasn't the best impression first impression.

Dr Bainnson ‘s office was very efficient
I was taken right away; an employee performed certain tests and placed drops in my eyes which freed up the doctor to see many patients quickly and then do his tests. Dr Bainnson is very mild mannered and an excellent communicator

Love this office. It was first visit. Everyone was kind and professional. Dr Bainnson was excellent. He was also kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel very comfortable The office was full and they still managed to move everything along quickly and efficiently!
