About Dr. Anita Carleo
Dr. Anita Carleo, therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist, was born and raised in Dallas, where she attended the Hockaday School for 14 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at Austin College in Sherman, TX, and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO).
Throughout her career, Dr. Carleo has gained invaluable experience managing ocular diseases, including dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She believes prevention is key and has developed strong relationships with surgeons and physicians to co-manage her patients. She continues to love the “bread and butter” of optometry: comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contact lenses to help patients of all ages see better daily. Dr. Carleo works closely with patients to find the best options to suit their lifestyle and recreational needs, whether that means the perfect glasses or specialty multifocal contact lenses for freedom and flexibility.
Dr. Anita is excited to open a new practice with her sister, Dr. Olivia Carleo. As a family practice, she looks forward to providing care and attention she would want for her own family. She strongly believes patients deserve a doctor who listens, addresses and treats their issues, and spends the time to answer all questions.
Dr. Carleo was awarded the Ocular Instruments Award of Excellence for Outstanding Performance in Ocular Disease study. She is a proud member of Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society, the American Optometric Association (AOA), Texas Optometry Association (TOA), Dallas County Optometric Society (DCOS), and Vision Source.
In her free time, Dr. Anita enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She loves to travel and enjoys reading and outdoor activities such as skiing and summer water sports.

Anita listened. Most doctors in general only care about numbers but fail to listen to the whole story. She understood what my experience was since I hadn't had my eyes examined in over 6 years. She helped me understand the changes in my eyes and what she could do to help. She was professional and approachable and I am glad she is my eye doctor
