Getting to know Dr. Annie Laweryson

I am a licensed psychologist in Washington, providing psychological services in private practice. I hold a PhD in Clinical Community Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a Master’s in Clinical Health Psychology and a Master’s in Nutrition from Bastyr University, and a Bachelor’s from Saint Martin’s University. I use cognitive, behavioral, and attachment psychology to help people with various issues, often focusing on health, wellness, and quality-of-life concerns. As a certified nutritionist, I may bring general nutritional knowledge into sessions, focusing on you as a whole person where mind and body connect. However, I encourage follow-up with your primary care provider or a registered dietitian for specific nutritional recommendations. I do not provide nutritional treatment plans, tailored nutrition advice, or nutritional diagnoses, as this is outside my scope. I may diagnose some eating-related disorders. I consider myself a generalist with experience in all mental health disorders but focus on health and wellness issues, including eating disorders, disordered eating, relationships with food and body, chronic pain, chronic illness, health-related transitions like new or difficult diagnoses, mind-body awareness, weight loss, health behavior change, and sports psychology. Because mind and body are connected, my approach also helps with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and loss. I see some other concerns on a case-by-case basis. Besides private practice, I am passionate about working with Veterans and teach undergraduate psychology as an adjunct professor. When not working, I enjoy trail running, hiking, camping, and fishing outdoors.
