Dr. Antonette Whitehead joined the Downtown Women OB/GYN team in August 2011. Moving her practice from the Midwest, she enjoys delivering gynecologic and obstetric care to the women of New York City. Dr. Whitehead received her BS from the University of Michigan in 2003 and her MD in 2007 from Wayne State University. She completed her residency training in Chicago at Northwestern University’s Prentice Women’s Hospital in 2011. Dr. Whitehead completed her board certification in November 2013.

Had a great first experience at this office . I was taken quickly to the examination room. The doctor saw me not too soon afterwards. She had great bedside manner and was attentive to my concerns. After the intake, she personally sat down with me in her office to book a future appointment. I look forward to coming back

Just had my pre-conception counseling and IUD removal with Dr. Whitehead. I cannot stress this enough - she is PHENOMENAL! Her bedside manner is wonderful, her patience, and willingness to listen are unmatched. I felt so seen and so safe with her. I wasn’t able to schedule the appointment for exactly what I wanted via ZocDoc, however, she saw me anyway and took her time talking to me and really getting to know me. She is so kind and reassuring. I’m excited to start this journey and I was afraid of delivering with a provider that would rush through appointments and not listen to me. This was absolutely NOT that. This is what shared decision-making with a provider should look and feel like!

Dr Whitehead is a truly wonderful practitioner. She has delivered my kids and now I see her for annual visits. She takes the time to talk with me and ensure I don’t have any questions. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. The front office staff has improved over the last couple of years as well.

Dr. Whitehead, in my opinion, is one of the best OBGYNs in New York City. She’s compassionate and extremely understanding. Many people are already afraid to make visits to the doctors office, in fear of the results. Dr. Whitehead is easy to speak with and is very supportive. I am appreciative to have her as my doctor, again!

The practice had lost one of my specimens first suggesting I come back in to have samples retaken; after having done this, a week later after I hadn't heard anything, I had to call up myself and when I did was met with agitation by nurses who said they would have eventually gotten back to me.....'eventually'....when I have something pressing isn't professional. Very disappointed and probably will not return.

Dr. Whitehead did an amazing job with putting me at ease while I was nervous about my first pap smear. She was very informative and was able to answer all of my questions with no hesitations.
