About Dr. April Dewhite
I am Dr. April DeWhite, a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist with over 30 years of experience. Throughout my career, I have been committed to educating and informing my patients by providing compassionate and personalized care. I believe that informed patients are best empowered to take an active role in their healthcare.
My special interests include menopause management and abnormal Pap smear treatment. I am dedicated to finding the least invasive approaches for treating conditions such as fibroids and endometriosis, reserving surgery as a last resort whenever possible.
Over the years, I have held various roles, including overseeing the training of OB/GYN residents, publishing colposcopy and other gynecological research, and working as a generalist physician.
I was born and raised in Chicago and hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine and completed my Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
I am passionate about practicing gynecology and look forward to working with patients at the Gynecology Institute of Chicago. I am excited to join Dr. Williams and her team in providing exceptional care.

I love the fact that this is a Black owned business but I would love it if more Black doctors were on staff. Black women chose to visit because of treatment we have received from other doctors and want to feel safe. Please add more Black doctors to the staff.

Such a great experience! I was checked in and went to my appointment immediately and staff was warm and friendly. My appointment was easy and quick but I never felt rushed, and my questions and concerns were answered with care. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is feeling anxious or nervous and will be returning again!

My first appointment unfortunately had to be cancelled due to my doctor being sick but they were able to reschedule in a timely manner. The waiting room was nice, the receptionist were polite and helpful, and the wait time was short. And with this being my first Gyno appointment, I'm very happy that I found Dr. DeWhite. She a great listener, asked great questions, explained everything she was doing and what my medications do, as well as made me feel as comfortable as possible.

Best doctors visit! The entire staff was amazing. Rachel, Anisah (I hope I didn’t misspell that) and Sheena were absolutely amazing. The waiting room was beautiful and I like the artwork. I was in and out but I didn’t feel rushed. All of my questions were answered. I am glad that I found a new doctor.
