About Dr. April Oliver

Dr. April Oliver was born and raised in Mesquite, TX. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of North Texas, graduating with honors. She later completed her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. During this time, she was honored with Letters of Excellence in Family Practice and the Nick Stoyan Memorial Grant for Orthokeratology. While earning her doctorate, she also received extensive training by working at Berkeley Eye Center, Texas Eye Institute, Good Neighbor Clinic, Golden Eye Clinic in Center, and Lehmann Eye Center in Nacogdoches. Dr. Oliver enjoys participating in local charities, including See to Succeed and the Klein ISD Vision Outreach Program, which provide free eye exams and glasses to hundreds of deserving children in the Houston metroplex. She lectures to several local organizations on the importance of eye health. She also spends time with Houston ISD nurses, teaching them about common pediatric eye conditions so they can detect them at an earlier age. While providing comprehensive eye care to patients, she is certified in treating many ocular diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. Her special interests include Dry Eye Syndrome, LASIK and cataract surgery co-management, and specialty contact lens fittings (sclerals, multifocal, prosthetic, keratoconus, and post-surgical). She loves working with children of all ages and strives to make them as comfortable and at ease as possible during the exam. She also enjoys taking the extra time to listen carefully to patients and thoroughly explain findings in an easy-to-understand manner. Dr. Oliver enjoys spending time with her husband, cooking, reading, painting, being outdoors, traveling, and connecting with friends and family.
