About Dr. Asaf Ferber

Should you need to make a change to your appointment please do so with at least 48 hours notice** Asaf Ferber, MD, is an associate director of the department of OB/GYN at Lenox Hill Hospital. He provides labor and delivery services to his patients, as well as standard gynecologic care, including annual exams. He has a clinical interest in managing high-risk pregnancies, caring for mother and fetus at higher-than-normal risk for complications such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, epilepsy, thyroid disease, and autoimmune or blood disorders. Dr. Ferber earned his medical degree from Hadassah Medical School at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and completed a residency in OB/GYN at the Rabin Medical Center, both in Israel. After moving to the United States, he completed a research fellowship in high-risk pregnancy at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he subsequently completed a second OB/GYN residency. During his fellowship he studied extensively nucleated red blood cells (RBCs) and their role in high-risk pregnancy. He routinely collaborates with registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nutritionists and maternal-fetal medicine specialists, as well as doulas and lactation consultants, to ensure women experience a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery and postpartum support. “We also promote mother-baby skin-to-skin contact after delivery and offer breastfeeding guidance,” he says. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ferber is assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He has published more than thirty research articles in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of OB/GYN, Ultrasound in OB/GYN, and Human Reproduction as well as numerous case reports, abstracts, and book chapters.

I could not have had a better experience with Doctor Ferber. I came to him for a second opinion on a surgery that my fertility doctor recommended, and he helped guide me through it. He was respectful, attentive and gave sound advice. I am grateful to have found him.
