Getting to know Dr. Ashok Nagella
Dr. Ashok Nagella is an ABPN Board Certified Psychiatrist that specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry but does see clients up to age of 40. He has been in practice for 20 years in various settings from inpatient to outpatient psychiatry, has supervised and taught psychiatry residents and medical students, and has worked with a very diverse clientele from private practice settings to community mental health. Dr. Nagella grew up and attended school in the Chicago area. He attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for his Doctor of Medicine degree then completed his Adult Psychiatry residency at Loyola University Medical Center followed by Fellowship specialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Institute for Juvenile Research.
He believes strongly in a holistic approach which involves complementing traditional psychiatry with education about the healthiest lifestyle habits (nutrition, meditation, exercise, and sleep hygiene among other habits) to optimize health. He has seen that some of his clients reduce the number of medications needed when lifestyle habits and coping improve. His hobbies include running, bicycling, reading, shooting baskets with his son, social justice advocacy and education, and spending time with his family. He is also a passionate environmentalist and animal lover. He is the father of twins who are 13 years old, has 2 dogs, and has been married to his beautiful wife for over 20 years.

Dr Nagella is the most wonderful psychiatrist I've ever worked with! He listens,he gives great feedback and support and he truly cared about my health,he doesn't stop with psychiatry, he's advised me to see several specialists that I've been putting off before we met.I feel blessed that I finally found the right Dr after decades of bad or non caring psychiatrists,He had given me confidence in my treatment and i believe we have found the best treatment for me.10 stars for him!!!

Meeting was the perfect balance of professional and personal. Dr. Nagella was great to speak with and incredibly insightful across all manners of mental health, including behavioral (diet, exercise) and medicinal.

Please don’t hesitate booking with Dr. Ashok Nagella. He posses great communication skills, takes his time with his patients, and he goes into detail. I have my second appointment coming up soon and don’t have any regrets whatsoever continuing with Dr. Nagella.

Doctor Ashok Negalla is an awesome doctor and person as well , he was very friendly with my son about the problem , he made it very comfortable to discuss . I am glad that we met him .I would definitely recommend him for child psychiatrist .

Dr.Nagella was so nice and relative. He did so good engaging with my son. I really enjoyed the appointment and was educated in so many ways. He went through dietary changes to also help my child. Both medical and natural assistance. My son said at the end of the call “that guy seemed cool right? Or is that just me” For my son to say that was a win.
