Prior to starting medical school, he engaged in research at the Ocular Virology Laboratory at Cedars Sinai Medical center studying the ocular damage caused by the Herpes Virus. His contributions were instrumental in discoveries by that team which resulted in better understanding of the Herpetic Eye Disease, as well as several publications in major journals in the field. Dr. Maguen graduated from Boston University Medical School. He was honored as a Junior AOA member, an honor that was warded to the top four medical students of his class. Dr. Maguen then completed a one year internship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
