About Dr. Catherine Coleman-Johnson

Catherine Coleman, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry from Southeastern Louisiana University. A Louisiana native and graduate of Denham Springs High School, Dr. Coleman began her career teaching Chemistry in Livingston Parish before pursuing optometry. While at UAB, she was elected Class President all four years and served as President of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. She also founded the Private Practice Club and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Coleman was actively involved in student leadership, serving on several committees including the Student/Faculty Liaison Committee and the Faculty, Staff, and Student Success Committee. She was also the only student selected to serve on the search committee for UAB's new Dean of Optometry. Her academic excellence earned her consistent recognition on the Dean's List and multiple scholarships throughout her education. Her clinical experience includes pediatrics, contact lenses, primary eye care, and ocular disease.
