Dr. Christina Marie Davis, PsyD

Psychologist
949 Filbert St #1, San Francisco, CA
My education, training and professional experience are from a humanistic, person-centered orientation. What this means is that I practice from a strength-based perspective, which emphasizes first identifying the skills and abilities you already possess. What are your existing resources? It also means my approach is personalized to your specific needs, we look at your experience holistically. This means considering biological states, mental focus, emotional well-being, spiritual beliefs and philosophical principles. This is as opposed to the Western medical model which is the orientation that dominates mental health. This way of looking at the difficulties we experience emphasizes pathology, it focuses on what is wrong. While it is important to identify and acknowledge how and why we are struggling and suffering, that process can cause us to lose connection to what is working and how we are strong and that we are already successful. By practicing in this way the people I have worked with report significant improvements because we have activated the positive. This gives us access to your expertise and intelligence, the ability you inherently possess to heal and improve.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the first session my objective is to establish relationship, learn about one another. The people I work with consistently report that an initial therapy session with me results in a reduction in anxiety. Whether you are looking for brief, solution-focused therapy to address a specific challenge or to establish a deep therapeutic alliance, I emphasize encouraging your positive qualities, emotional resources and intellect. Over time this will strengthen existing skills and equip you with new strategies. The people I work with consistently report I have helped them identify and grow what serves wellness and recognize and reduce what is preventing them from experiencing optimal wellbeing.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
