About Dr. Christopher Charnell

Christopher Charnell, O.D., earned his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Florida, completed in 1996. Growing up as the son of opticians, Dr. Charnell was introduced to the world of optometry at a young age. His early exposure to the profession and his passion for healthcare inspired him to pursue a career in optometry, which felt like a natural fit. He is dedicated to providing exceptional eye care, drawing on his extensive experience in the field. One of the aspects he enjoys most about his work is building lasting relationships with patients and their families over the years. Outside of work, Dr. Charnell enjoys spending time outdoors-whether camping, hiking, or exploring new destinations through travel-and cherishes time with family and friends.

The doctor himself was very friendly as well as the office staff for the last half of my appointment. When I walked in the receptionist maybe was annoyed over something else so it reflected when she spoke to me. My insurance was not brought up and instead I was asked for my health insurance and not my vision insurance and ended up being embarrassed over having to pay for something I was not expecting to pay. I found it to be a red flag on their part to not read my confused look on my face as to why they asked for health insurance over vision as it is two separate things I pay for. If they didn’t accept my insurance or insurance plan they should have let me know that. I would recommend the doctor but bring the correct questions and insurance.

I was super bummed when my eye doctor retired and shut down his location. However, I am so glad I found Lake Howell Eye Associates! Everyone was super friendly and the appointment was so efficient. I feel like past eye appointments took long, but they had me in and out while still feeling like I got everything I needed out of the appt. The doctor was super kind and the girls who helped me pick my glasses were awesome. 10/10 recommend!
