“Couldn’t find my appointment at first and didn’t send me the forms that needed to be complete prior to the appointment so I had to complete them there which was a hassle. The front desk person had a major attitude to the point where I felt like I should apologize for existing. The doctor that I saw was pleasant. Also was the most rushed eye test I’ve ever had and I have terrible vision so I’m curious to see how my prescription turns out.”

About Dr. Christopher Coad
Dr. Coad of Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.), and is a top LASIK doctor in NYC. He is an attending physician at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and part of Continuum Health Partners. He continues to travel the world exchanging ophthalmic skills as a member of the ORBIS team and lectures on his areas of expertise including all laser iLASIK and advanced cataract surgery.
Dr. Coad graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego and was awarded his MD from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He interned at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York City and completed his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. Dr. Coad was chosen for an international ophthalmology fellowship with ORBIS, the only international flying eye institute. ORBIS is based on board a jet fully equipped with examination rooms, operating facilities and teaching capabilities.
Dr. Coad has been certified on several laser platforms including the technologically advanced VISX, and Intralase lasers for correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He’s been performing LASIK, PRK and LASEK since approved by the FDA in the early 1990’s. In addition to the thousands of ophthalmic surgeries and laser procedures he has performed, he has performed laser vision correction on many other physicians, as well as multiple staff members at Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology.

I did appointment more than two weeks before. I confirmed my appointment three times before!!! At the end appointment was cancelled by the medical office less than 24 hours before. Medical staff from reception recommended me next appointment in 12 days! I was disappointed. I don’t recommend this medical office because bad work of reception ??????

I will not be using Zocdoc to make future appts because it was not apparent that I would not be seeing Dr. Coad.
His picture was the only photo that accompanied every msg throughout the app and one of the many confirmation msgs I received indicated that I was scheduled with him personally. However, the receptionist kindly explained that when an appt is made via Zocdoc, a pop up msg indicates patients may be seen by another provider and that they are under Dr. Coad’s supervision; but, no indication of which doctor.
Afterwards, I received this request to review the “office” of Dr Coad with (again) no mention of the doctor who actually did my exam. Thankfully in the end, I was very pleased with Dr Yu. She was very thorough, competent and kind. However, I found Zocdoc’s inconsistent messaging to be confusing and misleading.

I've never had a worse experience with an office staff. The receptionist was extremely unfriendly and actually hung up on me while I was talking. I was told to call once I tried out a few new contacts, the receptionist has not told the doctor about my prescription and it's been over a month since I have seen this doctor. I'm still waiting for my prescription but once I receive it I will never go to this office again.

Doctor knew I was there to get an eyeglasses prescription. I did the tests. She said she would email me the prescription. They billed my insurance for an eye exam. I never got the prescription. When I called and told them I hadn't received it, the receptionist told me that I need to pay an additional fee, not covered by any insurance, in order to get it. Is that even legal?

I have been a patient of DR Coad for years and was VERY SPECIFIC that I only wanted my appt to be with as per Dr Coad’s instruction. Thu booked me with an associate and then acted like it was my fault that the appt was booked wrongly. He is wonderful but his office staff have been awful for years. It’s very difficult to continue to see him when you have to deal with these people to do so. May be time to change providers.

I did not see my doctor however the doctor I did see was very nice, knew my medical eye history,attentive,smart,competent and very helpful.I would see her again but it would have been nice if the office did identify tat I would be seeing another doctor and give her name.
