Are you managing the demands of school, work, and family while grappling with mental health concerns like depression, anxiety, and trauma? It can be overwhelming because modern life does not slow down for us to repair our mental health and return to optimal functioning. We often get stuck just "getting by," suffering in silence. I keep a focus on helping clients quickly and effectively, while tailoring interventions to each client's unique lived experience. Approaches to treatment depend on how the client constructs their concern and views the change process. I have extensive experience with CBT, ACT, Psychodynamic work, couples/family systems, and relational-cultural approaches. Ultimately, my goal is to construct a unique path for each client in a space where they feel fully understood and heard. I earned my PsyD from Wright State University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support clients through diverse challenges. If you are experiencing a mental health concern, please set a consultation. Emotional distress can be confusing, limiting, unpleasant, and above all else, painful. Don't go through it alone-let's work together to find a way through. I look forward to assisting you on your path to greater wellness. What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to treatment is collaborative and transparent. My primary goal is to understand the client's concern from their perspective. From there, we typically discuss a variety of therapy approaches that might work. I have clinical expertise in the following areas: Couples Therapy - Integrating the science of what actually helps marriages and avoiding the strategies based on myths and pitfalls that can actually harm your relationship. Couples in therapy need immediate steps and solutions they can try instead of non-directive, time-wasting approaches. Teen/Adolescent/Young Adult Concerns – The world is changing at a faster pace, with different levels of contact and communication than at any time in human history. One of the costs of the information age is that adolescents manage more stressors. GLBTQIA Identity Concerns – This topic dovetails with Adolescent and Young Adult concerns, since one of the key tasks of this age range is integrating our various identities into a cogent, functioning self. Sadly, individuals in the GLBTQIA community are often diminished and discriminated against in their own family systems. Trauma - Evidence Based Techniques like EMDR, Trauma Informed CBT, and exposure therapy to target symptoms of trauma and diminish the impact of traumatic experiences in your day to day life. Depression - Gaining an understanding of the unique factors that contribute to your depression symptoms, whether job stress, family stress, biological predisposition, or recent events. Depressed individuals do better in treatment when they can target some changes they want to make and gain a sense of control and efficacy. This can be mobilized in the first few sessions. Anxiety - Whether panic disorder, chronic worry, or physical tension, anxiety can feel overwhelming and seems to strike at random. Interventions targeting anxiety need to integrate the science of neurology with specific steps clients can use to reduce symptoms.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session in my practice starts with checking in on the client's current state and what content they want to bring to session. The check in process can be open ended - often clients bring in new concerns or unexpected ideas and experiences that are helpful to the therapeutic process. From there we will set some objectives for the session that fit the client's needs. I work from a variety of therapy modalities, and my overarching goal is to fit the right interventions to specific client variables. Some common modalities I work from include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Psychodynamic Therapy Emotion Focused Therapy Trauma-Focused Exposure and Cognitive Reprocessing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Mindfulness-Based Therapy Multicultural Therapy Feminist Therapy Family Systems Approaches
