Qualifications and Experience
Dr. Cindy provides comprehensive eye care that is not limited to treating dry eye, eye infections, ocular disease, eye injuries, and diabetic eye exams. She is a passionate educator, spending time with her patients and answering any questions; she is also fluent in English, Spanish, and Malayalam.
Dr. Cindy Madathilparambil, born and raised in New York, received her undergraduate degree in biology from Northeast’s premier public university, SUNY Binghamton, and her Doctor of Optometry degree from New York’s prestigious optometric graduate school, SUNY College of Optometry. She graduated from both institutions through a fast track program and with honors. Wearing glasses and contacts at a young age, she was exposed to optometry early in life, fueling her passion for vision. Her extensive medical experience stems from rotations completed at the Southern Arizona VA hospital and the Naval Health Clinic in Annapolis, Maryland.
Vision is often overlooked in a busy life. Good vision can be the difference between ending your day consumed and completing your day uninhibited.

Never have I ever experienced such unprofessional, sarcastic, and downright rude individuals from that location. It had been my first visit there and it will certainly be my last. After speaking with my insurance, Fidelis Care, and talking with the staff there at the eye doctor location, I was entitled to my free eye exam and a pair of glasses, that would be covered on the insurance plan. Fine. But I never was advised I would be getting charged an exorbitant fee for a contact lens exam. They referred to this all on the phone to me after I went home as "updating your prescriptions." Had I been told I would have to fork something over to "update my prescriptions" it certainly would've alerted me just like anyone with at least a pea sized brain to question why do I need to fork over to update a prescription of mine? Where is that going to? Administrative? Clerical, etc., but that contact lens exam was not needed. I wear contacts and still have them as they were made aware as well. This office quickly stole from me and they did it in a way without expressing and clearly identifying that I would face a charge or that the contact lens exam was not inclusive with my insurance. On another note, I do not feel I was properly examined as the Doctor, of all people, Dr. Cindy Madathilparambil, to even ask me, "What's your current prescription?" I gave her the numbers, "OK, well I guess I'll just increase it the next strength." No exam, no looking into anything, nothing clear. HIGHLY unprofessional, and really not something to mess around with, when it comes to your vision. On the other hand, my other complaint lays with Nancy. She told me "Doctors don't work for nothing." How downright disgusting, volatile, and egregious of her. For someone to say that to another person is very degrading and highly unprofessional. Amidst our conversation she did mention all I wanted were the glasses, which is true, and I cannot afford nor do I need to afford all the crazy upgrades I was being really sold on, pretty hard. More and more she offered these unnecessary upgrades, she made me feel uncomfortable by talking about how the frames would look, and what I'd be missing, and the benefits if I gave in to the extras, very high amounts, for Crizal lenses or smaller lenses, etc., the whole nine yards. At the end of the discussion from when I was there, she told me, "Oh, and you need to us." Hesitant and confused I took my wallet out. Shortly after when I reached home, I contacted my insurance company and they indicated the manners and behaviors in which the office conducted themselves were very wrong, and that I should contact Davis Vision as well as the office to get a better understanding of the "updating prescriptions." I then did and that is when the conversation of "Doctors don't work for nothing ," occurred. This has been such a distasteful experience and a very saddening and shocking one. I never felt so pressured and pushed around before; I do not feel comfortable and I am upset with how things have occurred and still cannot come to an understanding WHY it even had to be this way. I paid for some unexplained services, I was pressured into sales because she put down the insurance saying I wouldn't be getting the things I really needed, and I was pressured by Nancy most of all, and I was put down by her and the office. I will NEVER return there and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, EVER.

Very thorough tests, and explained the purpose of each one. Felt very confident in understanding my eye health.
