Psychologist
OH
Hi! Do you feel off, like something is just not right? You are not alone. People can feel like this for many different reasons. As a clinical psychologist for 25 years, I have helped people move through the transitions or trauma they have experienced toward the life they want to live. This often involves talking about depression, anxiety, sleep problems, trouble getting along with others, and substance use. It also includes learning what you value, take pride in, and what you enjoy. I believe your strengths will help us figure out how to move through the world more like you want. I also have extensive experience working with Veterans and their family members. My Texas psychologist license number is 32731. License status can be confirmed via the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council online verification system by searching for “Texas BHEC online license verification” and entering my name or license number.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don’t have to be defined by your hard experiences. Instead, we can explore defining yourself by what is important to you now. This involves getting to know you, what you want to be different, and what brings you comfort and peace. I’ll offer warmth and compassion, build on your strengths, and show up authentically. We will talk about options to support the growth and movement you desire. Growth can include structured techniques such as evidence based practices for PTSD, insomnia, nightmares, and harm reduction for substance use. You will choose how we approach this, and we will work together to achieve your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session has three parts. First, I want to learn what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions, and I will also listen. Second, I would like to know your strengths, likes, and positive attributes. The final piece is you starting to paint a picture for me of what life looks like when you have achieved what you want from therapy. I call this your vision. I believe the vision is critical because it helps give us direction.
