About Dr. Dana Shannon

I am dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalized eye care for patients of all ages. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, where I competed as a Division 1 tennis player and graduated Cum Laude. I received my Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, also graduating Cum Laude, and completed my residency in Adult and Pediatric Ocular Disease management at the University of Chicago. I am actively involved in advancing the field of optometry. I serve as a Regional Trustee for the National Optometric Association and am a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). I am a member of the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. I have also been honored as a Contact Lens Institute Visionary in 2023 and 2024. My areas of focus include comprehensive eye exams, myopia management, contact lens fittings, and ocular disease management. I am committed to ensuring each patient feels heard, informed, and cared for during every visit. Outside of work, I enjoy weightlifting, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends. I am also passionate about community service and have participated in medical mission trips providing eye care to underserved populations in developing countries.
