Dr. David Christopherson, MD

Primary Care Doctor
7804A Fairview Rd, Charlotte, NC
As early as elementary school, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I admired my family physician growing up, and was fortunate to train under him for a time. He showed me how to treat patients and their families. He showed me that medicine was a career that allowed me to use my problem-solving skills and have direct impacts on people's lives. For more than 25 years, I loved delivering babies. I worked in a family practice in rural Kentucky where we delivered more than 200 babies a year! All of medicine is meaningful, but there is something extra special about being able to welcome a new baby to the world. That is often the beginning of building a long-term relationship with a patient, and those relationships are one of the most important parts of medicine. I am still just as committed to building those relationships, learning every day, and using my skills to help people whenever possible. I believe healthcare should be centered around the patient and based on the best medical evidence available. I listen to my patients so I can understand what is important to them as well as their perspectives of their health and their life. Patients must be heard, and we both must communicate honestly so we can work together to reach their medical goals. My wife and I have been married for more than 50 years, and have three children. (Our daughter is a pediatrician at Novant Health!) We also have three grandchildren. We are pet people, have even had basset hounds, and enjoy the company of two dogs and two cats. Walking the dogs keeps me active, as does yardwork. I also love internal travel with my family.
